Concept & Vision

The Verdant Atrium House is an exploration of “living architecture,” where the boundary between the built environment and nature is intentionally blurred. Designed as a sanctuary within an urban context, the project utilizes a brutalist-inspired material palette—off-form concrete and blackened steel—softened by an extensive internal landscape.

  • The Vertical Garden: Central to the design is a multi-story void that acts as the building’s lungs. This atrium allows natural light to penetrate deep into the floor plate while facilitating passive cooling through the stack effect.

  • Material Honesty: The use of raw concrete surfaces provides a thermal mass that regulates temperature, while the rhythmic placement of steel-framed windows creates a dynamic play of light and shadow throughout the day.

  • Blurred Thresholds: By incorporating floor-to-ceiling glazing and internal planters, the living spaces feel as though they are carved out of a garden rather than enclosed by walls.

This project was born from the desire to create a home that breathes. By stripping back finishes and focusing on the dialogue between concrete and chlorophyll, we created a space that feels both grounded and ethereal.
